Searching by Rule Number
Rule numbers consist of the
Title Number, unique to each agency, and the Series Number, unique to each
agency rule. The are stored in the database as in these
examples: 153-06, 110-10A, 32-08, 126-006. If you know the number or have
found it using the Index, this will take you directly to the rule.
-
Enter only the title
number and a hyphen to get all the rules of a single agency.
Example: Enter 153- to find Secretary of State rules.
-
Enter the entire rule
number to go directly to a specific rule. Example: Enter 106-04
to find "Rules Pertaining to the WV Regulated Consumer
Lenders."
-
Education Department
rules, Title 126, total over 100 rules, so the series numbers must have
three digits. Use one or two leading zeros as needed. Example: For
numbers under ten, enter numbers like this: 126-001, 126-002 and so on
to 126-009. For series numbers over ten,
enter numbers like this 126-010, 126-011 and so on up to 126-099.
-
All other titles have
fewer than 100 rules, so the series numbers must have two digits. Use
one leading zero for series numbers under ten. Example: 153-01, 153-02,
etc. We're
sorry this is inconvenient, but it is necessary to keep the rules
sorted in the correct order.
Searching by Agency or
Board Name
You do
not need to know the whole agency name. One word, or even a part of a
word is enough. You may wish to scan the agency
list if you aren't finding the agency you want. Example:
"exam" will bring up several boards with the terms
"examining" or "examiners" in the name.
Searching
by Rule Name
You may use
any word to search for a rule name, and every rule which contains that word
will be returned. This isn't a fool proof way to find the subject
matter you need, so you may also want to search for the word in the Index.
