step 2 - Find Out Where to File

File with the County Clerk of the county where the property is located only, if the collateral is as-extracted collateral (such as minerals, stone, gas) or timber to be cut. Once timber is cut it is not secured by this filing and a new filing with the Secretary of State as ordinary goods is required. §46-9-501
File with the County Clerk of the county where the property is located only, if the financing statement is a fixture filing and the collateral is goods that are or are to become fixtures. To be a fixture filing, the financing statement must indicate that it is to be filed for record in the real property records. §46-9-501
File with the Secretary of State only in all other cases, including a case in which the collateral is goods that are or are to become fixtures but the statement is not filed as a fixture filing.    §46-9-501
File with the Secretary of State only for all collateral, including fixtures and fixture filings, of a transmitting utility.    §46-9-501
