Filings Correctly

Complete the Form
The forms specified by law (§46-9-521) are standard forms acceptable in
every state which has adopted the uniform act. These are not the
only acceptable forms, but they were designed to reduce error by both
filers and filing offices. To make filing easy, fill out the
form on screen using Acrobat Reader (4.0 or higher). For information about

Review the Completed Form
Missing,
illegible or confusing information can result in rejection. See
the filing steps for more detail.
The law specifies errors which require rejection by the filing office (§46-9-516).
1) On an initial
statement, check for:
-
The
debtor's correct name.
-
The
debtor's mailing address.
-
The
organization type, organization number (or "None" if there
is none), and jurisdiction for a debtor which is an organization.
-
The
secured party's name.
-
The
secured party's mailing address.
-
The
description of collateral.
2) On an amendment,
check for:
-
The
filing number of the original financing statement which is still in
effect.
-
Any
new additional debtor's correct name and mailing address.
-
The
organization type, organization number (or "None"), and
jurisdiction for a new debtor which is an organization.
-
Any
new secured party's name and mailing address.
-
Any
changes in description of collateral.
3) On a continuation,
check for:

The
filing number of the original financing statement which is still in
effect.

The
expiration date, which must be within the up-coming six months.

Remit the Fee

Send
$10 for each financing statement or amendment submitted. Filings
without a sufficient fee must be rejected. Please do not send
excess payment -- refunds are very expensive for us!
